Undergraduate Prospective Students
School of Theatre and Film Scholarships, Fellowships and Awards
The School of Theatre and Film, in cooperation with the Herberger College of the Arts and ASU, offers a limited number of scholarships, fellowships and awards on a competitive basis to prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students each spring for the following academic year. Awards are offered on the basis of artistic and academic and/or financial need, and require continuous full-time enrollment as a Theatre or Film major for the duration of the award.

Available Scholarships and Grants

Anna Rosenzweig Memorial Theatre Award
Upperclass or graduate student; acting/performance, directing or playwriting
major planning professional Theatre career; preference for female candidates
but not required; minimum 3.0 G.P.A.; artistic excellence or financial
need.
Arizona Community Foundation/Ernst & Irmgard
Moller Scholarship
To support dissertation research and writing; Ph.D. student in Theatre
for Youth; priority to those advanced to candidacy prior to application
deadline. [NOTE: School applies annually to the Arizona Community
Foundation for funds.]
Rita Criste
Theatre for Youth Travel Fellowship
Theatre for Youth graduate student; academic excellence; funds can be
used as scholarships and awards throughout the year to support
graduate student travel to professional conferences.
Barbara Salisbury Wills Memorial Scholarship
For an M.F.A. or Ph.D. student in the Theatre for Youth; awarded based on scholarship, past performance, and future plans in drama with and for children.
Claire and Henry Sargent Graduate Fellowship in
Theatre
Graduate student; academic or artistic excellence.
Eirene Peggy Lamb Fellowship in Theatre
Graduate student; 3.0 minimum G.P.A.; financial need as well as artistic/academic
excellence.
Herbert Smith Graduate Fellowship in Theatre
Fellowship recipients should be full-time graduate students in the Herberger
College of the Arts and in good academic standing at the university;
financial need is not a consideration.
Lin Wright Endowed Scholarship in Theatre for
Youth
In order of preference: Ph.D. candidate, then M.F.A. student, then undergraduate
Theatre for Youth focus area major; 3.0 minimum G.P.A.
Marshall W. Mason Scholarship
Scholarship divided between fall and spring semesters; ASU main campus,
full-time Theatre major; junior or senior; not renewable; financial
need not a factor; 3.25 G.P.A.
Special Talent Awards
For graduate and undergraduate students enrolled full time and maintaining
at least a 3.0 G.P.A.
Sun Angel Scholarship for Theatre and Film
Available in even numbered years; undergraduate Theatre and/or Film major; Arizona
resident only; minimum G.P.A. 3.0; financial need.
Theatre Student Memorial Scholarship
Undergraduate Theatre major; financial need.
Theatre Student Scholarship
Undergraduate Theatre major; financial need.

You will need to file both the ASU School of Theatre and Film and the Herberger College application forms.
Download the Herberger College School of Theatre and Film Scholarship, Fellowship and Award Application, and follow all instructions carefully. Pay particular attention to the attachments required. E-mail and faxed applications are not accepted. All materials must be hand delivered or mailed to the address on the form:

All application materials must be received by the deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for any scholarships, fellowships or awards.
Recipients will be announced by April 21, 2008. After reviewing all applications, the School of Theatre and Film's executive council recommends the recipients of available scholarships, fellowships and awards to the director of the School of Theatre and Film.
Some scholarships, fellowships and awards can be renewed by their recipients for future academic years; however, students must reapply each year for renewal.

Scholarship, fellowship and award amounts are determined and authorized by the Herberger College of the Arts. Since several units within ASU are involved with the application and review processes, and the university wishes to assure equity, fairness and compliance with all regulations, these guidelines will be strictly enforced. Students are urged to review these guidelines and criteria carefully, complete their applications thoroughly and meet all specified deadlines for eligibility. Some scholarships, fellowships and awards can be renewed by their recipients for future academic years; however, students must reapply each year for renewal. The School of Theatre and Film may also choose not to offer selected scholarships, fellowships or awards if there are no suitable or eligible applicants.
Students applying for a scholarship, fellowship or award based on financial need must establish this need by completing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form.

Application based on financial need both qualifies and disqualifies the applicant from selected scholarships, fellowships and awards.
Because of the limited number of scholarships available through the School of Theatre and Film, all applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for university-awarded scholarships by completing a General Scholarship Application.
