Projections/Media

Design Execution/Paperwork:

  1. Work on design content throughout Tech and Dress process to improve/finesse image content, aesthetics, movement and timing.
  2. Take notes on focus and mechanical issues of the projector, appropriate surfaces and playback equipment to be dealt with during the work call on the following day.  The responsible technician (master electrician or designee) must be informed of these notes by 8:00AM the following day.
  3. Take notes on the stage manager’s calling of the show and operator performance and communicate those notes to those parties in a timely and polite manner.
  4. The following materials must be submitted to the appropriate parties by the deadlines set in the production calendar by the Production Manager. Failure to do so may have a negative impact on the grade in the 401 or 498 course.

    1. Basic plan and section indicating placement, orientation and focus of the projector to the Master Electrician or designee.
    2. Shop order and/or equipment list
    3. List of anticipated expenses for all rentals, stock imagery or expendables.
    4. Cue synopsis with content library breakdown with accompanying imagery or storyboards for use during tech process.
    5. Color storyboards/animatics to director and other designers three weeks before tech begins.

  5. Rough drafts of all content-based cues should be created, prepared, organized and loaded into appropriate playback devices in a timely fashion before the tech process begins.
  6. Drafts must also be made available to director and other designers one week previous to tech.

    Technical Duties:

  7. Coordinate load-in schedule and appropriate work calls with the Master Electrician or designee for the School of Theatre and Film and the production.
  8. Work with designated faculty/staff/collaborators in appropriate cases to develop system for playback/control.
