Performance Schedule

Performance Schedule
The performance schedule shall be posted at auditions, and opening and closing date shall be included in each student’s Memo of Understanding.

Brush-up Rehearsals
Brush-up rehearsals may be called following a break in the performance schedule, if necessary and at the discretion of the Director.  Brush-up rehearsals shall adhere to all rehearsal guidelines, including call times and duration.  In most cases, brush-up rehearsals shall be held on a non-performance day, but if called prior to a performance, the performance call and running time shall be included as rehearsal time for calculation purposes.

Performance calls
Students may be called up to one and a half (1 ½) hours prior to curtain for vocal, physical or fight warm-ups, as dictated by production needs, at the discretion of the Director.

Typically, School of Theatre and Film productions open the house to audience seating one half (1/2) hour prior to curtain.  All onstage warm-ups, prop checks, channel checks, and the like must be complete by this time.  The house may be held only if there is an emergency that can not be corrected by half hour.  Holding the house must be done in conjunction with the House Manager.

Weekday Matinees
The School of Theatre and Film occasionally schedules weekday student matinees, typically at 10:00 a.m.  If a Mainstage production has a scheduled weekday student matinee, the School of Theatre and Film shall excuse participating students from affected Theatre classes and will write letters asking for an excused absence from affected non-Theatre classes.

Two Performance Days
The School of Theatre and Film shall try to maintain at least one and one half (1½) hours between the end of the first performance and the call of the second performance on a two (2) show day.  If there shall be a break of less than one (1) hour, the School of Theatre and Film shall provide a meal to all cast and crew involved.

Closing / Strike
All students involved in any capacity on a Mainstage production - cast, crew, and Designers - must participate in strike immediately following the final performance.  This will last no longer than one and one half (1½) hours.  Actors shall take no more than one half (1/2) hour to remove costumes and report to strike.  This strike is intended to achieve large tasks; e.g., breaking down the set, removing costumes, stripping flown goods, and not intended to fully strike and restore the theatre space.  It is additionally intended to foster a sense of community and camaraderie with all theatre students, breaking down barriers between Actors, crew, Designer, Stage Manager, etc.

A student must present a valid doctor’s note explaining a reason the student may not participate in strike proceedings.  Students unable to lift or push weight may be assigned less strenuous tasks, but shall still participate to the extent of their capabilities.
