MainStage Production Manual: Student Responsibilities
Assistant Stage Manager
- Assist Stage Manager in running rehearsals:
- Follow script for lines/changes;
- Track/notate blocking;
- Track/notate property/costume use/movement;
- Track timing and remind of breaks;
- Track attendance and contact late Actors;
- Schedule costume fitting appointments, etc.
- Run scenes separate from Director at Director’s request;
- Assist Stage Manager in technical rehearsals:
- Run onstage aspects of performance;
- Track/notate changes in production (timings, locations, costume changes, etc.);
- Warn Actors for entrances and onstage running crew for cues/shifts;
- Track attendance and contact late cast/crew.
- Attend all production meetings;
- Attend/run all rehearsals;
- Attend/run all performances:
- Post and check sign-in sheet and contact late cast/crew;
- Confirm all School of Theatre and Film’s pre-show checks;
- Supervise onstage running of performance;
- Confirm clean up of stage and backstage after each performance;
- Assist Stage Manager to create and distribute all production paperwork:
- Prompt script with all cues, notes, blocking, schedules, paperwork copies;
- Rehearsal and performance reports;
- Prop, costume and scenery tracking forms;
- French scene breakdowns;
- Supervise on deck running crew;
- Assist during strike by packing props, ensuring theatre is secured.
